February 11, 2018 – “The Heavenly Associate” Sacred Music in Concertato Style at St Louis Abbey

Featuring Polish Baroque composer – Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki , this program involves some of the top singers and instrumentalists of Saint Louis. The main theme of The Heavenly Associate is cooperation of the organ with voices and an other instruments in sacred repertoire ranging from the solo aria to the music for vocal-instrumental ensemble in concertato style, mostly from the time of expressive seconda pratica which marks the beginning of the Baroque. 

April 19, 2018  – “We Are St Louis” – Contributions of People of Poland to St Louis region at St Louis County Library Florissannt Valley Branch

We all know that St. Louis has a Polish connection, but did you ever wonder why or how? Learn about the history of Polish immigration to St Louis and many contributions made by people of Poland to the St Louis region.  The program is part of the series called We are St Louis! 

August 11, 2018 – St Louis Premiere of “A Brave Bunch” at  the St Louis Public Library – Carpenter Branch

A hybrid documentary by Tomasz Stankiewicz tells a story of heroic and tragic 63-day struggle to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany occupation during World War II from a child’s perspective. In the film a group of kids finds an authentic dairy from the Warsaw Uprising. Looking for its owner they stumble into the Warsaw Uprising Museum. Thanks to the diary’s magic power they meet their peers from 1944 who survived complete destruction of Warsaw and slaughter of its inhabitants. A brief introductory lecture by Dr. Michał Kwiecień will be take place before the movie. There will also be networking/exhibit 

September 30, 2018 – Duo Klavitarre at Studio Polonia  at the Kranzberg Art Center

Enjoy performance of Polish artist interpreting world classical music.  Duo Klavitarre, Jolanta Ziemska (pianist) and Maciej Ziemski (guitarist) fascinate and amaze audiences with piano and guitar arrangements of masterpieces by renowned composers. Their repertoire includes baroque, classic, romantic, and modern pieces. Both artists bring an amazing development to the music world. The Duo Klavitarre concert in St. Louis will include the artists’ own arrangements of works from Astor Piazzolla, Francisco Tarrega, Luigi Boccherini, Vittorio Monti, Stanley Myers, Fryderyk Chopin, and Gerhard Schwertberger. 

October 9, 2018  RISING FROM THE RUBBLE: Creating POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews  at Missouri History Museum

A lecture at the Missouri History Museum by Dr. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett Chief Curator of the Core Exhibition at POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland.  Facing the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes on the site of the Warsaw ghetto and prewar Jewish neighbourhood, POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews completes the memorial complex. At the monument, we honor those who died by remembering how they died. At the museum, we honour them – and those who came before and after – by remembering how they lived. This illustrated lecture explores the creation of POLIN Museum’s multimedia narrative exhibition, a journey of a thousand years, and its role as an agent of transformation that can move an entire society forward. 

December 9, 2018 –  Lira Ensemble Live at 560 Music Center in University City

Enjoy Polish traditional folk music and beautiful Polish carols. The concert la will be in celebration of Christmas and the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s independence.
It will be performed by the Lira Singers, Lira Dancers and Lira Orchestra and narrated in English. The program will include Polish and American carols, patriotic and light classical music, folk songs and dances in authentic regional folk garb. This concert present Polish-American holiday traditions and explains them in English for the non-Poles in the audience
