Sat Aug. 11, 2 PM St Louis Public Library Carpenter Branch and Saint Louis Polonia hosted an event commemorating 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
Many thanks to all the St Louis Public Library staff, the event patrons and participants who made this possible; Kudos to Marek Jankowicz for sharing his photos of the event. Our special thanks go to our historian extraordinaire dr Michał Kwiecień for a very interesting overview of the historical and political background of the Warsaw Uprising. A St Louis premiere of the award-winning documentary “A Brave Bunch” was another the highlight of the event. Q&A Session lasted over an hour. Our guests greatly appreciated an exhibition “Warsaw Rising 1944 – We wanted to be free and owe this freedom to nobody” which was made available to by the Warsaw Uprising Museum. In summary, it was a very successful event which not only contributed to the collective awareness of the history of Poland but also made it clear that there is a great need to continue our efforts.
